EMC VNX NAS health checks

How often do you get a critical message from your VNX system and can´t exactly confirm it the message you received is 100% correct. Let's say that the message eventually is justified, but we do not know whether the system has recovered and if there is action needed.

Below some health check commands

 

First login to a PuTTY session. PuTTY is an ssh client. Download here. As said, login with your credentials.

Use the following command to check your datamover in the VNX. The outcome as presented indicates everything is ok.

/nas/sbin/getreason

10 - slot_0 primary control station
11 - slot_1 secondary control station
5 - slot_2 contacted
5 - slot_3 contacted

Use the following command to check the datamover as well

nas_server -l

id      type      acl      slot      groupID      state      name
1      1           0        2                          0           server_2
2      4           0        3                          0           server_3

To makes sure everything runs according schedule, Use the following command.

nas_checkup
